GARDENIA PARTNERS JAWI TO SPREAD SYAWAL CHEER TO ASNAF AND B40 HOUSEHOLDS
Gardenia Rolls Out Fourth Phase of Covid-19 Aid Programme With Gift Packs Worth Over RM85,000 and Festive Cookies
Kuala Lumpur, 15 June 2020 – Determined to spread the joy of Syawal, Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd (GBKL) partnered with the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) to deliver Gardenia gift packs and festive cookies to the Asnaf community and B40 families.
“We take this opportunity to wish all Muslims a blessed Hari Raya Aidil Fitri. This year everyone is experiencing a different kind of Syawal celebration. While most of us still have the opportunity to experience the festivities with loved ones, it is important to remember the poor who are greatly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. We are thankful to our partners from JAWI for helping us extend our fourth phase of aid to more families in need,” said Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd, General Manager, Corporate Affairs and Public Relations, Hazlinah Harun.
Close to 4,000 Gardenia gift packs valued at over RM85,000 and festive cookies were prepared for recipients. The packs comprised of Gardenia favourites including Delicia Bread loaves, Twiggies, and Gardenia’s NuMee and Raya cookies.
JAWI Director, Tuan Haji Mohd Ajib Bin Ismail, expressed his delight with Gardenia’s shared compassion to help the underprivileged. “The welfare of Muslims in the Federal Territory is a priority to JAWI and it is a great honour to have Gardenia’s support to boost our efforts to help the urban poor, especially during this festive month. The aid will be distributed through the JAWI Food Bank from mosques and suraus across six zones including Surau Jumaat Hijrah PPR Intan Baiduri, Surau Jumaat At- Taqwa Sentul Utama, Masjid Nurul Islam, SJ Al-Husna PPR Semarak, Surau Jumaat Al Mustaqim, and Surau Hijrah PPR Pantai,” he said.
In addition to partnering JAWI, Gardenia has also amplified its reach to the B40 community by working with groups such as the Kampung Bari Simpang Tiga Residents Association, the Malaysian Consumer Friendly Organization, and the Damansara Women's Economic Network Organization.
This initiative is the fourth phase of Gardenia’s RM1million Covid-19 Aid Programme mooted at the start of the Movement Control Order in March to help alleviate the burden of the B40 community, front liners and students under the Food Bank Programme.
